Charlie has loved living on the Outer Banks of North Carolina for the past 30 years! “In one way or another I have been associated with the Southern Shores area and Southern Shores Realty since I was 14 years old. My family rented here when I was a young teenager. I worked with the Rental and Property Management/Housekeeping Department in the early days. This gave me the first-hand experience to enter into Sales. I know the area, properties, and Southern Shores Realty from the ground up.

Charlie is married with two daughters and is a graduate of Georgia Southern University as well as a graduate of Realtors Institute. As a former Army Officer (OCS/Airborne), Charlie has traveled world-wide and met many people. He has been a broker since 1979 and is consistently a “TOP PRODUCER”.

My background in business administration, long-term experience in real estate management for a local law firm, followed by several years in non-profit development, have given me a broad perspective for real estate sales.

I have served the Outer Banks community through volunteer work with Dare County Schools and as a member of the Boards of Directors of several non-profits, including The Nature Conservancy at Nags Head Woods, Children & Youth Partnership for Dare County, and the Dare Education Foundation.

I believe that conservation of our natural resources and economic development can, and indeed should, work together for our unique coastal community. Making smart choices today will provide the realization of our dreams for the future, both personally and for our community.

As a resident of the Outer Banks since the late seventies, first on Roanoke Island and later on the beach, I have an intimate knowledge of the area and its real estate market. My outside interests include tennis, reading, and travel. I live in Southern Shores with my husband, Bill, and our son, Zack.

In May 1987, I moved to the Outer Banks and have been happily assisting people with their real estate needs since. I grew up working in a family run business in Richmond, VA, and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University. My family and I vacationed here on the Outer Banks and I loved it so I decided to make this my home. My wife Linda and I live in Southern Shores and have a baby girl named Katherine.

My outside interests center on The Martial Arts, cooking, golf and Katherine! Recently I achieved the rank of Fourth Degree Black Belt in Cheshin Ryu Karate. I donate much of my after work spare time to teach at The Bushin-Kan Karate Dojo of the Outer Banks. In my teaching I stress focusing the mind and the spirit to be totally committed and dedicated to achieving your goal. Focus, commitment and dedication are the keys to achievement in life just as in Karate. By incorporating those principals and ideals into my daily life, I have become a specialist in dealing with real estate needs on the Outer Banks. I started a career in banking and investing in 1980 following college, (Campbell University), and military service (7th Special Forces Group). I moved to the Outer Banks in 1987 after falling in love with the area. Over the years I have been privileged to participate in many aspects of the local economy including the tourism industry, real estate, commercial & residential construction, restaurants, retailing, sportfishing, and commercial fishing.

My accumulated knowledge of the local economy has given me many opportunities to help others become a part of this dynamic and profitable cycle. It has been exciting helping to grow the area and create new businesses and new developments.
